Employees who feel appreciated are happier, more productive, and more likely to stay in their current position. Here at Frazer, we reward our employees for their hard work. Friday happy hours, free lunches, and our annual holiday party are all perks that make working here great. That’s why as a content specialist, I write blogs that highlight the ways employers can boost their employees’ morale.
One way to increase morale is by providing team building activities that are enjoyable. Ideas include having a staff potluck, volunteering, or doing holiday activities like a Halloween costume contest or a Secret Santa.
A comfortable workspace goes a long way in making employees feel appreciated. For employees who work at their computer all day, get them a standing desk or an ergonomically designed chair. You can also provide learning opportunities. Offer to take new employees to the NFDA and ICCFA conventions. This gives them the opportunity to learn more about the funeral profession.
Occasionally, treat your employees to a free lunch. Everyone appreciates a free meal. Finally, and this might be the most important idea, keep communication open. Every employee at your funeral home should be comfortable to come to you with any concerns they may have. Talking to their boss should never feel scary.
