When faced with grief, the most important thing to remember is that you are not alone.

Here are some of our favorite blogs that discuss grieving, how to cope, and offer daily inspiration and insight on dealing with loss. Feel free to bookmark or share these resources with others.

On Coming Alive

On Coming Alive is a grief blog by Lexi Behrndt. After suffering the loss of her young child, Lexi found an outlet for her grief on her personal blog. She wanted to create a place for others to do the same. And that’s how On Coming Alive started. The blog is filled with inspiring stories from people of all different backgrounds, and how they found hope while coping.

Losing Your Parents

Losing Your Parents is a grief blog dedicated to the difficult loss of the passing of parents. Lisa Snyder created the blog after both her parents passed away from cancer. Inside the blog, you’ll find inspiring stories and life lessons, like how to cope on Father’s Day or what to do with parents’ belongings after they pass. The blog also is filled with great podcasts about coping and other resources such as recommended books on coping with the loss of one’s parents.

Diary of a Widower

The Diary of a Widower is a grief blog that documents the experiences of Tim Overdiek, and how he coped with the loss of his wife after a car accident. The blog deals with a variety of topics, including going back to work, raising children, and dealing with important dates and anniversaries. It’s an honest and heartbreaking look into the daily mindset of dealing with tragedy.

Confessions of a Funeral Director

Confessions of a Funeral Director is powerful because it discusses death and grief in ways we don’t typically think about. Caleb Wilde gives us touching, inspiring, and sometimes comical stories from the perspective of someone committed to funeral service. The blog covers unique topics in an engaging way, like stories about grief and support and the compassion fatigue felt by funeral directors.

Still Standing Magazine

Still Standing focuses on coping with losing a child, infertility, and other stories of loss. It covers unique topics about fathers and how they deal with grief, ideas for honoring the memory of a deceased child, and stories about how to embrace life again after a loss.

  1. Heather Mitchell

I do have a resource that I would recommend for anyone and everyone. When Their World Stops by Anne-Marie Lockmyer, it’s a recent release but I found it so insightful and helpful. It addresses the silence and discomfort of being around someone in grief. It guides them through the process and HOW to approach the grieving individual and how to be present in a consistent way that is not obtrusive, offensive but rather therapeutic and beneficial. I really appreciate this resource and recommend it for anyone and everyone. You can find out more about the author and pick up the book here, Thank you for continuing to help and provide resources for individuals going through this difficult time.

  2. Tony Iatridis

I have come across a very good resource for dealing with grief, Sona Bhatnagar’s website When Sona was 46 years old, her husband, Mohit, was killed in a motorcycle accident. Just ten months later, her 18-year-old son, Nachu, died of widespread bone cancer. After her husband and son both passed, Sona sank into the darkest depths of despair. Time, self-reflection, willpower, and acceptance of what had happened allowed her to re-emerge as a new version of herself, joyful, excited and hopeful for my next chapter in life. Sona, ironically is herself a Grief Counselor, and she actively corresponds with those who contact her through her website. Reading her story and reaching out to her is a wonderful experience and a great comfort.
