Funeral homes are always going above and beyond for their communities. Now during the COVID-19 pandemic, they’re getting more creative than ever before to accommodate families while social distancing.

We want to shout out funeral homes that are going the extra mile and give you the recognition you deserve. Below are some creative ways funeral homes across the country are handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Educational Webinars

Even though funeral homes can’t host in-person events right now, they can host webinars to help educate their community. For example, Cy Hume, the Vice President and Manager of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, did a webinar with the Georgia Funeral Directors Association about how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting funerals in Georgia.

Drive-Up Services

The fact that those who are grieving can’t have all their family and friends physically present at their loved one’s funeral is heartbreaking. That’s why some funeral homes are getting creative and doing drive-up services so people can still show their support and pay their respects.

For example, a few funeral homes doing this are Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Illinois and Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery in Texas.

Another Texas funeral home took a similar approach to this idea. Mission Park Funeral Chapels, Cemeteries & Crematories created a setup inspired by a drive-in theater. With their 20-foot-wide LED screen, families can park and watch their loved one’s funeral via live streaming.

Acts of Kindness

Many funeral homes are branching out beyond funerals and finding creative ways to help their communities. From sending meals to writing uplifting notes, below are a few examples:
