Hi I’m Renee Richveis, and I’m a sales consultant here at Frazer Consultants. Today we’re going to talk about SSL certificates and that little green bar at the top of your website that says HTTPS.
You might be wondering what SSL stands for. Or, like most everybody else, probably not. But in the event that you are it stands for secure socket layer. Basically what that means is it protects any sensitive information that’s submitted to your site.
Having an SSL certificate for your whole website means giving your families a secure connection to enter personal information. Whether that is leaving a condolence message on your Tribute Wall or entering credit card information you truly want that trust to translate from the inside of your funeral home to their online experience.
So what’s the difference between HTTP and HTTPS? If you’ve ever been to your credit card or banking website, you might have noticed the HTTPS in green right before the web domain. That means that any information submitted to this website is going to be secure.
Now the one letter difference might not seem like a big deal, however, Google is about to make some changes within their system that’s going to make it much more obvious that websites are not secure. Having a secure website is not just good for your client family security, it’s also good for your Google rankings as well. With Google’s new requirements they will prioritize websites with HTTPS. When families are searching for funeral homes in your area, secure websites will rank higher.
So it is really important that all of us start moving in this direction when it comes to providing security to your client families. We want your funeral home’s website to be easy to find and secure for your families to use. That’s why Frazer offers websites protected with SSL.
