Summer is about halfway over, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over! There is still plenty of time for your funeral home to host a fun summer event for your community.
Summer events are a great way to draw people into your funeral home and build connections with them. They show you value your community which brings positive exposure to your business.
Below are some fun summer events your funeral home could still host this summer. Get started soon, or before you know it the leaves will start changing!
Labor Day Weekend Cookout
When planning this event, it’s best to do it the Saturday or Sunday before Labor Day since many people will already have plans for the holiday. Get some brats, burgers, and other typical cookout food, and start grilling!
Before the day comes, make sure you assign each of your staff members a specific task. For example, one person should be on grill duty while someone else is on clean-up duty. This way there will be no confusion and things will run smoothly.
Picnic and Preplanning
If you have a nice outdoor space, host a Picnic and Preplanning event! While families snack on some food you prepared, you can teach them all about their funeral preplanning options. By keeping the event fun and upbeat, people will be more open to talking about their end-of-life options.
Summer Splash Family Event
If you’re looking to host an event for kids of all ages, a Summer Splash family event is perfect! Provide drinks and food for everyone, and then get a slip and slide, water balloons, and sprinklers for the kids. To keep the kids engaged, come up with some fun games to play such as a water balloon toss or water cup races. Families will appreciate a way to cool off on a hot day.
Outdoor Movie Viewing
For this event, you will need a large white sheet and a movie projector. Invite families to bring their blankets and some snacks for an outdoor movie viewing. To go above and beyond, you could rent a popcorn machine and provide soda. Maybe choose a movie that helps families reflect on their grief.
This sounds like a good idea. I’m going to speak to my Funeral Director regarding this.
Thank you
