With families seeking more personalized funeral services, some are choosing to have destination funerals. A survey from Co-operative Funeralcare found that half of all American funeral directors have been asked to plan a destination funeral, with about 10% of those being abroad.
Preplanning is extremely important for a destination funeral, as there are several things you need to consider, such as reserving a cemetery plot and choosing a funeral home. You also may want to start a fund to pay for various costs, such as the burial, transportation of remains, and arranging for funeral guests to get to and stay at the funeral location.
