How Your Funeral Home Can Get Involved This St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick's Day

As communities come together to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, here are ways your funeral home can get involved and engage with families.

Irish Potluck Dinner or Luncheon

Bring the community together with some delicious Irish comfort food classics. Your funeral home can host the potluck at its facility or another reception venue. Have families bring a version of their favorite Irish dishes, or see if any local Irish restaurants would be interested in helping sponsor the event. Here are some Irish recipes to help inspire your potluck dinner:

Pot O’ Gold Fundraiser

A pot o’ gold fundraiser is a festive way to raise money for a good cause. If your funeral home is hosting another event, such as a potluck dinner, consider selling tickets to the dinner to raise money for the pot o’ gold charity collection. At the end of the dinner, your funeral home can make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Another option is to host a pot o’ gold raffle. Your funeral home can give out prizes to encourage entry into the raffle and donate the proceeds to a charity of your choice.

Sponsor a Float in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

If your town puts on a St. Patrick’s Day parade, your funeral home can sponsor a float. It’s a great way to show your involvement in the community and helps to put your funeral home’s name out there. Typically floats in a parade have different levels of sponsorship, with each level of sponsorship offering different advertising and branding opportunities for your funeral home.

Shamrock Bake Sale

An Irish-themed bake sale is another great way to get involved. And you can use the proceeds to donate to a charity of your choice. Have your staff bake some St. Patrick’s day sweets, like shamrock cookies, green and gold cupcakes, or porter cake. Another option is to partner with a local bakery to help put on the charity bake sale.

Host a Contest

To engage with families online, host a contest over your social media accounts. For example, your funeral home can put on a simple guessing game. Fill a container with something St. Patrick’s Day-themed, like plastic gold coins or four-leaf clovers. Then post an image on Facebook asking families to comment with their guess of how many items they think are in the container. While you’re at it, ask them to share your post with others. Contests like these can be great ways to generate leads for your funeral home.

Go “Green”

If your funeral home provides green burial or memorial products, use St. Patrick’s Day to promote them. Your funeral home can run a “Going Green” campaign over social media to educate area families about the eco-friendly products and services you offer.
