Malta hopes that by May 2019, cremation services will be legalized. As of now, Malta is one of only a few European countries that doesn’t allow cremation services. Although research shows that only about 30% of the population prefers cremation over burial, it will provide people with an alternative end-of-life arrangement and help protect the environment since they’re running out of burial space.
