Oftentimes, due to the stigma of suicide, many families who lost a family member to death by suicide don’t get the support they need to cope. They feel too ashamed or heartbroken to reach out to people in their community. Likewise, others may be too afraid to bring up the death to them.
Since this is unfortunately true, it’s up to funeral directors to provide resources to these families during their time of grieving. We have compiled some helpful resources for you to share with your families.

Hi Lexi. thank you so much for providing this resource. Many people do not realize how profoundly impacted suicide loss survivors are, and how critical healing support is for this wounded population – indeed, it is not uncommon for people closest to the loss to become suicidal themselves in the aftermath. The Alliance of Hope was founded by suicide loss survivors as a labor of love. Our staff and volunteers are loss survivors who understand. We provide 24/7 online healing support in our online survivors forum, which is overseen by a mental health professional, and operates like a 24/7 support group. For many people in rural areas, it is their only source of support. Thank you again for your commitment to help families bereaved by suicide.
