Hi, I’m Lexie Graf, a content specialist here at Frazer. During my time here, I’ve written many blogs about ways funeral directors can take care of themselves better because I know that you have one of the most challenging jobs out there.
Today I’m sharing some ways funeral directors can practice self-care because in order to take care of the families you serve the best you can, you need to take care of yourself first.
One way to practice self-care is by taking some time to unplug. That means not checking text messages or your email and trying to live in the present. Try going on a nature walk or finding a quiet place to read a good book.
Another idea is to start a stress journal. After the end of a long day, use it as a space to vent about what’s bothering you. You’ll feel so much better afterwards.
Starting a new hobby is another way to unwind. Have you ever tried knitting, watercolor painting, or even woodworking?
Spending time with those you love is also a form of self-care. Plan a get together with some friends for a relaxing evening. Pull out the board games if you like a little competition!
For even more self-care ideas, check out Issue 11 of The Meaningful Funeral or download our free eBook.
