Hi, I’m Sam Giedris, the Social Media and Video Specialist here at Frazer. It’s almost 2019 and that means it’s time to make your New Year’s resolutions. We want you and your social media pages to start the new year on the right foot. That’s why we’re sharing some suggestions for how you can make your social media pages shine in 2019.
If you don’t post regularly, now is the time to start. Posting at least once a week is a great goal to get your pages up to date, and if you already post regularly, try posting at least one more time each week.
Do you have an old Twitter or Instagram page that you haven’t touched since 2015? Now might be the time to delete it. If you think you can start posting regularly, definitely keep it around. But, if you can’t keep up with it, keeping this outdated page for anyone to find isn’t helping you. Your funeral home should have a Facebook Page, but don’t overextend yourself if you don’t have time for other social media pages. So, delete pages you can’t keep up with and focus on having a better social media presence where you can.
Are you talking to your community on your Facebook? If you said no, make the resolution to start. And if you said yes, make the resolution to look for ways to engage even more. The more you engage with your community, the better your chances are that you’ll outsmart the social media algorithms and be seen by your client families more.
Social media scheduling can save you a lot of time, so if you don’t already schedule posts in advance, start now! Set aside a few hours one day or throughout the week, to make a plan for the upcoming month’s posts. Once you have a plan, schedule the posts you’ve created using a social media scheduler like Later, Buffer, or Hootsuite. By planning in advance, important dates won’t sneak up on you, and you won’t have to worry about posting every day or even every week. Your posts will just appear for you.
In 2019, make sure you get clicks that lead back to your website. Did you know that on Instagram you can’t click a link in a post? Sharing your link there won’t drive any traffic to your site, so you could be missing out. Put the link you want to share in your Instagram bio and tell people to click the link in bio.
Social media is important, but it doesn’t have to be time consuming. You can save time by scheduling posts in advance or by using premade posts. Our monthly social media kits are full of premade posts that are easy for you to share on your social media pages.
