It’s almost that time of year. The time we take a moment to remember just how special dads are. Frazer Consultants would like to thank all fathers for the love and wisdom they have imparted on the world.
We’ve put together a list of father-focused songs that make great tributes. Songs are powerful ways to invoke memories, inspiration, and feelings of hope. These songs are great for celebrating or remembering the special moments with a father.
1. The Best Day – George Strait (Listen)
The Best Day is a country song about a boy’s best moments as told by his father. Each verse paints a picture of the significant moments, taking us from a father-son camping trip to the son’s wedding day. It’s a great tale and powerful reminder for someone’s own special moments with their father.
2. Daddy’s Hands – Holly Dunn (Listen)
Another country classic. It’s a song about a child recalling her father’s rough and calloused hands. Looking back, the child understands and appreciates the hard work of her father. She now understands despite the rough exterior, her father had nothing but love for her and her family.
3. Dance with My Father – Luther Vandross (Listen)
The song is a heartfelt tribute. A young boy recalls dancing with his father, and as an adult how he longs to have those moments back. It reminds us to appreciate the times we have with dad.
4. You Raise Me Up – Josh Groban (Listen)
The classic song has been covered by numerous artists, but Groban’s version particularly stands out. The lyrics invoke the powerful imagery of how a parent propels their child to being the best version of themselves.
5. Just the Two of Us – Will Smith (Listen)
The song is Will Smith’s take on a father looking back on his relationship with his son. A little more upbeat than the other songs on the list, it’s a great song to recall the good times shared between a father and child.
6. Thank You for Being My Dad – Jon Barker (Listen)
Barker’s song is a simple ode to fathers. A perfect song for Father’s Day to take the time to thank and remember all that fathers do for their children.
7. My Father’s Eyes – Amy Grant (Listen)
Grant sings about a daughter and her special relationship with dad. The daughter wants people to see her father within herself. A sentiment many can relate to.
8. My Father’s House – Bruce Springsteen (Listen)
This one’s a somber song that’s about learning to forgive because that relationship with dad won’t be around forever. A sad but important message this Father’s Day.
9. I Learned from You – Miley Cyrus (Listen)
Sung by both Miley Cyrus and her dad Billy Ray Cyrus, the song is a simple duet about the wisdom parents impart on their children — even when the kids might not appreciate it at the time.
10. Sometimes You Can’t Make it on Your Own – U2 (Listen)
Another powerful one. The song was written about Bono’s relationship with his father, who was dying from cancer. Another somber reminder of the importance of fathers, and to appreciate them while you can.
