Hi, I’m CJ Friedrichs, and I’m a sales consultant here at Frazer, and today, I want to talk to you about why having a mobile-friendly website is important for your funeral home. I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of people tell you that your funeral home’s website needs to be responsive or mobile-friendly. But you might not be convinced yet, or you might not know the different mobile-friendly options.

As of January 2018, 77% of American adults own a smartphone and 53% own a tablet. This means that a lot of your website traffic is coming from a mobile device, and your users expect your website to look great and function well on every device they visit it from. So let’s talk a little bit about the different mobile-friendly options you may consider for your website: adaptive and responsive.

Adaptive websites create several distinct layouts for multiple screen sizes. For example, you might create a specific layout for a smartphone, a tablet, or a desktop. This type of website works well if you know exactly what devices people tend to visit your website from and their dimensions. However, if a client visits from a device that doesn’t fit the exact dimensions you’ve created, your website will not adjust to their screen size, which can lead to a bad user experience.

Responsive websites, on the other hand, provide the best viewing experience because they respond to or adjust to the specific screen size being used. Essentially, having a responsive website means that no matter how large or how small the screen, your website will adjust itself, so that the content isn’t difficult to read, and you won’t lose any functionality.

Another thing to consider with a responsive website is search engine optimization or SEO. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, a responsive website is great for your SEO, and it will help your funeral home be listed higher in search results. Search engines prefer websites that offer a great user experience regardless of the device, which is why they prefer responsive websites and why Frazer offers responsive designs.
