How to Clean up Your Files and Clear Your Cache [Video]

by | Jan 11, 2019 | Funeral Profession Videos

Hi, I’m Jenny Goldade, the Senior Content Writer here at Frazer. And for National Clean Up Your Computer Month, we want to share some tips on how to clean up your digital files and clear your cache.

First, let’s talk about keeping your digital files organized. This will help you find things more quickly and efficiently. So, if your desktop is littered with icons, you have a documents folder with over 300 files, or all of your files are saved in one folder, it’s time to implement an organization system.

To start, you should create a single root folder. In Windows, this is your My Documents folder, but you can name it whatever you want. If you typically share documents with your coworkers, then you should consider making your root folder your Shared Documents folder. In your root folder, create subfolders for different parts of your business, such as My Funeral Home Documents/Finances and My Funeral Home Documents/Marketing. In those subfolders, you can add relevant documents, or you can add even more subfolders depending on how detailed you want to be. By organizing your files by categories, you’ll be able to find them faster than before.

Now, let’s talk about what browser cache is. To put it simply, it’s the temporary storage on your computer or mobile device from the websites you’ve visited. When you visit a website, the information is stored so it can load quickly the next time you visit. But over time, this information fills up and can cause issues with your website not displaying properly.

To make sure you’re seeing website displays correctly, you need to clear your cache. Depending on what browser you use, the steps may vary. You should organize your files and clear your cache every few months to keep things organized and up to date.
