Hi, I’m Jenny Goldade, the senior content specialist here at Frazer. As a funeral director, you know that families want their loved one’s funeral to be a personalized experience. That’s why I’m sharing ways you can exceed their expectations before, during, and after the funeral.
Before the funeral, you can create a care package for families. You can include canned goods, toiletries, and other supplies. You also can include grief resources such as grieving tips, grief book and blog suggestions, any workshops you host or any other resources.
During the funeral, a major way you can go the extra mile for families is to find unique ways to personalize their service. Add their loved one’s personality to their obituary, design a funeral theme around their favorite hobby, or serve their favorite dish.
Another way to exceed families’ expectations is to add a grief therapy dog to your staff. Having a therapy dog helps families release stress and receive some comfort.
After the funeral, help families memorialize their loved ones with a memorial product such as an ornament, or with tips on making their own memorial craft like a photo wreath. Simply checking in with the family through a personal note in the mail or through a phone call can mean the world to them. Just make sure to check with them beforehand what their preferred method of contact is.
