Washington Funeral Home Follows up on Charity Drive

A partnership of nine funeral homes — including Weeks’ Family Funeral Homes and Newell-Hoerling’s Mortuary — helped make a big difference this winter. Their charity drive collected and donated more than 1,336 pairs of new socks to community and senior shelters throughout the Puget Sound area.

Meierhoffer Funeral Home Offers Grief Support Group

Meierhoffer Funeral Home partnered with Crossroads Hospice to offer a new “drop-in” support group for families. These workshops will be informal sessions open to anyone grieving. In addition to the drop-in sessions, Meierhoffer also offers an eight-week structured grief recovery workshop.

Michigan Funeral Home Offers Free Pet Cremation Services for Dogs Killed

Clock Funeral Home has offered free cremation services for 30 dogs after they were killed in a fire at a local dog kennel. The funeral home also will hold a memorial service to honor the dogs and help support the pet owners.

Symonds-Madison Funeral Home held a free seminar for Elgin area residents. The seminar featured a panel of experts and focused on funeral pre-arrangements, estate planning, cremation, and burial.

Missouri Funeral Home Now Offers Flameless Cremation

H.T. May and Sons Funeral Home now offers the “flameless cremation” service known as Alkaline Hydrolysis. Funeral Director Thomas May said that he wanted to offer families a more environmentally-friendly option for those considering cremation.

Arkansas Family Inducted into State’s Hall of Fame

The Edwards family of Fort Smith, Arkansas, was inducted into the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association Hall of Fame. The Edwards family first opened their funeral home in 1933.

Canadian Funeral Homes Honor Hockey Team

Funeral homes all across Saskatchewan are helping communities mourn the loss of the members of the Humboldt Broncos who died in a deadly bus crash. Several funeral homes are collecting condolence messages and will turn them into a memorial book for the victims’ families.
