Labor Day is set aside to recognize the contributions workers everywhere have made to strengthen and grow our country. And funeral directors are some of the hardest workers out there, working almost 24/7 to provide nonstop service and compassion to our communities.
To make the most of this Labor Day — and any other day — here are the essential mobile apps funeral directors need to save time and cut back on extra work.
Wunderlist
Wunderlist is a simple app that keeps you on track with your day-to-day goals. Think of it as a digital to-do list. It lets you organize checklists and tasks, as well as collaborate and share them with coworkers.
It also lets you set due dates, reminders, and assign certain tasks to certain people, making sure you never miss a deadline again. Wunderlist is available for free in the Apple and Google Play stores.
1Password
How many times have you had to go through the trouble of resetting a password because you couldn’t remember it? That’s where 1Password comes in. Their tagline is “Go ahead. Forget your passwords.” Sounds nice, right?
The app integrates with web browsers on your PC and mobile device. It saves all your information for multiple accounts and apps. When it comes time to log in, all you’ll need is one master password to instantly access any of your accounts. It makes signing into anything easy and uses powerful password encryption to remain safe and secure. 1Password ($2.99/month) is available in the Apple and Google Play stores.
RescueTime
RescueTime is perfect for funeral professionals looking for some much-needed work-life balance. The app works on mobile devices and your PC. It runs securely in the background and tracks the time you spend on apps, websites, and other programs. At the end of each day, it gives you a detailed report on how you’re spending your time and the area where you can potentially save some time.
It also lets you block distracting websites, set up activity alerts, and so much more. Two versions are available, a free version and a premium ($6.75/month), in the Apple and Google Play stores.
Trello
Trello is another app for keeping your work on track. The app is a great way to visualize your work goals and projects. It lets you track your progress in various project stages, as well as share and collaborate with others. The app is very easy and intuitive to use, so you can download it and start organizing all your tasks right away. Trello is available for free in the Apple and Google Play stores.
EverNote
EverNote’s tagline is “remember everything.” It’s like a digital assistant/note keeper all in one, and you’ll never have to worry about forgetting a great idea ever again. Evernote provides comprehensive note-taking capabilities, allowing you to save links, create checklists and tables, and even save audio recordings, handwritten notes, and documents.
It also allows for collaboration, meaning you can share your great ideas with the team. Several versions are available (including a free version) in the Apple and Google Play stores.
GPS for the Soul
For the funeral director feeling a little burned out, there’s GPS for the Soul. The app lets you measure your stress levels and offers interactive meditation and breathing exercises. It also lets you upload your own photos and music to create personal relaxation guides. The app is available for free in the Apple app store.
