The busy life of a funeral director makes it difficult to find time to cook the delicious and filling meal you deserve after a long day of work.
Being able to relax after the pressures of work is more appealing than cooking a complicated meal.
Slow cooker recipes make simple and quick meals that are ready to eat after coming home from work. In the morning, you put a few ingredients together in the slow cooker, and then let it cook during the day while you are attending to your families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones and all the other responsibilities that come with being a funeral director.
Give yourself a break and check out this list of five few-ingredient slow cooker recipes to try!
Orange Chicken
All you need to make this crockpot orange chicken is four thawed boneless and skinless chicken breasts and orange marmalade, barbecue sauce, and soy sauce to mix together for the sauce. Cook the chicken on high for three hours or on low for six hours. You can make some rice to go with it as well.
Lasagna
It doesn’t get much easier than this when it comes to slow cooker recipes! You need one to two packages of ravioli, one jar of spaghetti sauce, and shredded mozzarella cheese to make this lasagna. Simply layer the pasta, sauce, and cheese until the slow cooker is about 3/4 full, and that’s all the preparation needed. Cook on low for three to four hours.
Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork
Who would have thought to use soda for cooking meat? Rub the pork in your favorite seasoning and put it in the slow cooker along with Dr. Pepper. After it’s done cooking on low for 10 to 12 hours, drain most of the liquid, shred the pork, add barbecue sauce, and dig in. You can serve it on buns to make pulled pork sandwiches.
Vegetable Cheese Soup
To make this vegetable cheese soup, combine vegetables, seasoning, and broth in the slow cooker and cook on low for eight to 10 hours. Then stir in the cheese and cook for a half hour to an hour.
Homestyle Stew
After browning some beef, place it in the slow cooker along with your vegetables. Combine condensed cream of mushroom soup, condensed tomato soup, and onion soup mix and pour it over the top and let it cook on low for six to eight hours.
Need a little something extra to take the edge off? Try pairing your meal with one of these to-die-for cocktails (pun intended) to wind down after a day of work in the funeral profession.
