The Bean in Chicago

The 2019 NFDA International Convention & Expo in Chicago is quickly approaching! When you have downtime between the expo and educational sessions, you need to explore all the wonderful things the Windy City has to offer.

To help you get started, I’m listing some of my favorite things to do in Chicago below.

What to See

The Cloud Gate

Nearly everyone who has visited Chicago has made a pitstop to see the Cloud Gate, more commonly known as “the Bean.” This photogenic sculpture sits in Millennium Park and is definitely one of the most well-known tourist attractions in the city.

The Chicago River

The river runs through the city and can be admired from various bridges and riverwalks. If you have the time, many companies offer sightseeing tours of the city via boat.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago

If you’re an art buff, then The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is the place for you. They have all kinds of exhibitions throughout the year. Check out what’s going on during your stay here!

What to Do

Find Fun at Navy Pier

At Navy Pier, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. You could grab food and drinks while you enjoy a view of Lake Michigan. Or, you could ride the Centennial Ferris Wheel!

Admire Sea Critters at the Shedd Aquarium

The Shedd Aquarium is the kind of place to visit if you have an extra day in Chicago because there is so much to see! Just a few of their many sea animals include penguins, sharks, belugas, and sea otters.

Check out the Fall Foliage at Grant Park

Though the fall foliage is coming to an end soon, you should still be able to see the beautiful colors throughout the city during your upcoming stay. Grant Park has all kinds of trees that change in the autumn.

Where to Eat

Labriola

Since Chicago is famous for deep-dish pizza, I had to include a pizza place on the list. Labriola makes their pizza with the best ingredients and has many options to choose from. They also have all kinds of small plates for sharing on their menu.

The Purple Pig

If you like charcuterie boards, then this is the place for you. The Purple Pig specializes in cheese, wine, and swine. Their menus are always changing, but you can always expect something delicious.

Table, Donkey and Stick

If you want the best burger in Chicago, then you need to make a reservation at Table, Donkey and Stick. They also serve charcuterie boards and small dishes.

Lula Cafe

Breakfast is known as the most important meal of the day, so why not do it right? At Lula Cafe, you’ll find farm-to-table breakfast options, with ingredients that are in season.
