The 2019 NFDA International Convention & Expo is only a couple of weeks away! Our team is getting excited to talk to funeral professionals face-to-face and attend some of the informative sessions they have to offer.
Every year, some of our marketing team members get to learn about the latest trends and technologies in the funeral profession. We already have a list of all the educational sessions we plan on attending. Below, I’m highlighting a few of the ones we’re most excited to attend!

Keynote Speakers
NFDA and ICCFA have a longstanding record of picking great keynote speakers. That’s why we’re excited to see Seth Godin and Ethan Morse speak at this year’s convention.
Seth Godin is a bestselling author, teacher, and entrepreneur. In his keynote presentation, Seth will share ways funeral directors can take advantage of our increasingly connected world. He will discuss how telling your story helps your funeral home earn the trust of those you serve.
Ethan Morse is a U.S. Army veteran and filmmaker. In his presentation, he will give the audience an inside look at the documentary series Honor Guard, which he produced.
Online Reviews: Getting Good Ones and Fixing Bad Ones
In this session, Welton Hong of Ring Ring Marketing will go over the importance of getting positive reviews from your families. He will also share strategies for what to do when you get negative reviews. As Google and Facebook reviews hold more merit, this is vital information to help protect and maintain your funeral home’s image.
Increasing Online Leads
If you want to continue to serve more families, then you need to learn a thing or two about online lead generation. In his session, John Herald of Legacy.com identifies ways your funeral home can increase your number of leads and take control over your online brand identity.
Be Here Now: Exploring Mindfulness and Meditation
I’ve said it time and time again in the materials I’ve written here at Frazer, but funeral directors need to practice self-care in order to avoid job fatigue and burnout. One way to do this is by practicing meditation and mindfulness. Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist Kay Glidden and Compassion Fatigue Resiliency Consultant and Trainer Beth Reynolds-Lewis will share resources and techniques for ways you can increase your mindfulness.
Defusing Conflict in the Arrangement Conference: Strategies from Family Therapists
A death can bring out the worst in a family. It comes with mixed emotions including stress and frustration. This can cause a lot of tension when it comes to the funeral planning process. In his session, Founder of Mount Hope Grief Services Jason Troyer Ph.D. shares ways funeral directors can defuse and resolve specific types of conflict that may arise.
